2025 SLAMDANCE FILM FESTIVAL REVIEW!
Audio Description is a creative, comedic short film, written and directed by Luke J. Salewski, for the 2024 Easterseals Disability Film Challenge and won Best Film. Easterseals Disability Services is the Disability Inclusion Partner for Slamdance 2025.
Audio Description follows Eric (Lee Pugsley), a visually impaired man, as he goes about his day, when something unusual starts to happen. Pugsley, who also serves as a producer of Audio Description, describes this film as a high concept comedy, and it definitely delivers. Audio Description cleverly breaks “the fourth wall” and incorporates it into the movie, creating an unexpected and entertaining twist. Audio Description had me laughing through much of its five minute run, but was also heartfelt and endearing.
Filmed in five days and on a shoe-string budget, Audio Description shines and would be a hilarious feature film. It was funnier and more creative than a lot of big budget films I've seen. If you want a laugh [who doesn't want a laugh?] and have five minutes to spare [who doesn't have five minutes to spare?], do yourself a favor and watch Audio Description.
