Beauty and the Beast (2017)

This remake was so much better than the 1991, animated version. The songs were more fun than in the animated version, with the exception of “Be Our Guest.” This version of the film cut out the nonsense lines that served little to no purpose and added pieces to the story that made a significant difference in understanding what was happening. For example: why no one can see or remember the castle or what happened to Belle’s mother. The most interesting thing about the film was the fact that Lumière’s and Cogsworth’s voices were almost swapped in comparison to the original film; the voices, however, worked very well with their respective characters. Both Ian McKellen and Ewan McGregor were the perfect choices to play their respective roles. Audra McDonald’s voice was, without a doubt, the most annoying part of the entire film. She is one of the worst singers I have ever heard and it almost angers me that people felt she was better suited to sing probably the most important song in the film over just about anyone else. She plays a small enough role that, I’m sure, there are many others that could have played the role and performed her songs much better. There were actually parts of this film that I enjoyed and I definitely didn’t dislike this film as much as the Disney animated version of the film. This is not my favorite, but I don’t cringe at the fact that I know I’ll have to watch it again. http://m.imdb.com/title/tt2771200/
