Captain Phillips (2013)

This is a simple film. While there isn’t too much happening at any one point, there is a lot to take in over the course of the film. Not much time passes between the point in which the pirates make their way onto the ship and when the film ends, and while seeing what happens at almost every single moment throughout the course of a film can get boring, the acting performances of both Barkhad Abdi and Tom Hanks were so good that it made the film, regardless of how slowly it moved, worth watching and enjoyable. Including this performance, Tom Hanks is one of the best actors of the past fifty years. The story behind this film (even though some of it was manipulated for Hollywood) was first-rate and inspiring. Everything about this film was done fantastically and I can’t imagine a better version of this film. Camera angles, acting, dramatics and everything in between were done phenomenally and so precisely. Director, Paul Greengrass, and writer, Billy Ray, did a fantastic job with this film and deserved every one of the nominations it received for awards. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1535109/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1
