Cinderella (1950)

This is one of the least entertaining Disney films I’ve ever seen. For quite literally the first twenty minutes, almost nothing happened; we see Cinderella walk around the house and talk to mice. Of course, one would expect things like conversation between human and mouse to take place in a Disney film, however, the conversation led nowhere. This film seemed to be filled with flaws; the biggest flaw being the fact that a shoe that supposedly fits perfectly falls off as Cinderella runs away from the prince (whom she apparently had no idea was the prince). I thought the pacing of the film was horrible; very little happened in the first half of the film, while the second half of the film contained ninety percent of the story. While this film contained all the components of a classic Disney film, the way in which the film was executed fell seriously short of what many would have come to expect from the Disney company. There weren’t many Disney films that came before this, however, films like Snow White and the Seven Dwarves and Pinocchio set the bar incredibly high, a bar that Cinderella was just incapable of reaching. This film was far from what I had hoped for in a Disney film, but, with Cinderella being one of the most iconic characters in the history of film, it’s important that everyone sees this film at some point. https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0042332/
