This film is incredibly messed up. From the first five minutes of the film, all the way through to the end, we see large amounts of blood and gore, most of which came from, or as a result of, young children. The directors, Jonathan Milott and Cary Murnion, as well as each of the writers, must have seriously demented minds to have been able to come up with such a horrifying story. I urge anyone who has a weak stomach and/or does not care much for blood and gore to avoid this film at all costs. What was incredibly interesting was the fact that all that were in charge of putting this film together managed to take such a gruesome film and make it funny. This film was essentially a horror film, comedy and a love story wrapped into one, and I felt that it was done successfully. Casting director, Terri Taylor, did a great job of picking relatively unknown actors (with the exception of Elijah Wood and Rainn Wilson) to portray strange and goofy characters that worked very well together throughout the film. I felt that Leigh Whannell’s Doug was the best character in the film. He was whitty at times as well as funny and terribly goofy to the point that one couldn't help but laugh. What I loved about Rainn Wilson’s Wade was the fact that he reminded me a lot of his character Dwight K. Schrute from “The Office.” I thought his comedy was a bit dry and his character, as a whole, was a jerk--even though he meant well. One aspect of film that I typically neglect (not on purpose) is the make-up department. The list of make-up artists involved in this film is extensive and that appears to have been necessary for this film. I thought that each and every one of the make-up artists did a phenomenal job. One of the things that I found most interesting about the film was the fact that Hayden Christensen was one of the executive producers of the film (and this was the first film in which he was credited as such). Overall, I thought that this film was both messed-up and a lot of fun. Again, use discretion if you dislike blood and gore. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2490326/?ref_=nv_sr_1
