Daddy's Home 2 (2017)

I am typically skeptical about sequels to comedies due to the fact that I’ve found many of them are let downs compared to the original. I didn’t feel that this was the case with this film. I was nervous prior to watching this film because I had such low expectations, however, I was very much impressed with this film. I actually believe that this film was better than its predecessor. As usual, Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg were fantastic and they worked incredibly well with one another. Ben Harris and Allison Jones did a nearly perfect job with the casting of Mel Gibson as Kurt Mayron and John Lithgow as Don Whitaker. I’m not sure if there were better choices for the fathers of Wahlberg’s Dusty and Ferrell’s Brad. I imagine it can sometimes be hard to introduce not one, but two, new characters into the film, so, having the story take place around Christmas time was a great choice. It was an easy way to introduce new characters and have them stick around for a while. One thing I absolutely hate is when, in a sequel, any member of the original cast is recast (regardless of how small the role). I enjoyed the fact that small roles like Didi Costine’s Adrianna and John Cena’s Roger remained the same in this film. I thought the acting was good and the comedy was incredibly funny (even funnier than the first film). It is, for the most part, family friendly (considering its PG-13 rating) and still retains the morals that were present in the first film. With some profanity and some potentially inappropriate themes (that might go over children’s heads) I believe that it is still fun for the entire family.  https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5657846/?ref_=nv_sr_1
