Daredevil (2003)

My goal while watching this film was to find something that I liked about it. One thing that I actually enjoyed about this film was the “shadow world” effects, as they are called. According to the trivia on IMDB.com, this effect took almost a year to perfect. I believe that with the technology that would have been available in 2003 they potentially could have done a better job and finished quicker than they did. One thing that really stood out to me was the terrible, overly-scripted acting in this film. Ben Affleck, Colin Farrell and Jennifer Garner are all well established actors in Hollywood who have regularly been involved in films where they have surpassed their acting in this one. With the acting being so bad, something interesting to me was the fact that Young Matt (Scott Terra) out-acted Affleck. To date, this is the worst superhero film that I’ve ever seen and having that opinion makes me less than thrilled to watch the sequel, Elektra (2005). The one character that I truly enjoyed was Jon Favreau’s Franklin “Foggy” Nelson. Like in all of his other films, Favreau does a fantastic job of bringing just the right amount of comedy to each of his scenes. The absolute worst thing about this film was the fight scene between Affleck’s Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Garner’s Elektra Natchios. The scene took four days to complete because they wanted to make sure the scene was perfect. After four days of strenuous work, the scene was, by far, the worst scene in the film. It was overly-choreographed, corny and terribly unbelievable. The CGI was incredibly subpar, the dialogue was atrocious and, again, I am having trouble coming up with any positive feedback related to the acting. If you truly feel the need to watch this film, consider yourself warned--don’t. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0287978/?ref_=nv_sr_2
