Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo (1999)

I had never seen this film before and was not entirely sure what to expect, however, I believed I’d be in for a ride full of comedy and stupidity; I was correct. Within thirty seconds of the film starting the audience sees Deuce Bigalow’s (Rob Schneider) naked backside as he cleans the inside of fishtank at the aquarium in which he works. From this moment forward the film only became weirder. As we are introduced to new characters (such as Oded Fehr’s Antoine Laconte and Eddie Griffin’s T.J. Hicks) we are pulled deeper into a story of sexual promiscuity and physical oddities headed by our main character, Deuce. What I hadn’t expected, in the slightest, was the fact that this would, deep down, be a touching story, a story about love and about a man who begins to understand women more than most men can claim. By some unexpected turn of events Deuce finds himself in a situation that demands he lend his body to the field of prostitution and find a way to right his wrongs. In the process he finds love, begins to understand women more than he had ever thought possible and ultimately gets his life on track. Through a series of highly unlikely events and insane comedy, director Mike Mitchell presents the audience with a story that should, in some ways, inspire people to do better, be better and treat others with more respect. The film was much deeper than I had anticipated, but I appreciated the lessons that came with it. I very much enjoyed the comedy, the acting and most everything attached to this film. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0205000/?ref_=nv_sr_1
