MacFarlane and crew were tasked with one final installment in the Family Guy saga. George Lucas, less than thirty years prior, effectively ended his saga in extraordinary fashion and, while these films are not meant to or expected to live up to those standards, it still would have been a tall task for the team at Fox. As much as this film poked fun at Lucas’ Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi (1983), it seemed to poke more fun at itself. It regularly made jokes of Seth Green (Chris Griffin as Luke Skywalker) and Seth MacFarlane (Peter Griffin as Han Solo/Brian Griffin as Chewbacca/Stewie Griffin as Darth Vader/etc.) and used these jokes as a new way to guide the story without changing it too much. As usual, MacFarlane’s twisted sense of humor was the heart and soul of the film; it allowed it to flow, meet any and all expectations and deliver endless laughs. This film does effectively wrap up the Family Guy saga and leave a fair taste in the mouth of many of its viewers. Fans of Star Wars and Family Guy alike have now been immersed in a joint universe of two of the most successful franchises in film and television history. Fox not only leaves fans wanting more of the Griffins but more from the Skywalkers, the Solos and the rest of the Star Wars universe. This series not only created a new and interesting universe but it reaffirmed the love that I have for Star Wars and undoubtedly impressed audiences across the globe the way that it impressed me. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1701991/
