Family Guy Presents: Something, Something, Something Dark Side (2010)

Seth MacFarlane and Fox chose to work with a different writer when creating this installment of the Family Guy saga. Writer, Kirker Butler, took up the reigns of this film and managed to make the film even better than the first. Through a series of dry humor, ridiculous puns and a continued mockery of all things Star Wars and pop culture, Butler, MacFarlane and the rest of the team at Fox successfully topped the first installment of the series. It appeared that there were many scenes that dragged on and on, diminishing the intrigue of the story and the film; however, these interesting choices were fair in parodying the seemingly awkward scenes (i.e. the slow, intense exchange between Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker and Han Solo’s awkwardly funny exclamation about Tauntauns smell worse on the inside) from Lucas and Irvin Kershner’s Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980). The team perfectly captured the intensity of the original story while flipping it in a fashion that does Family Guy justice. The two franchises do not appear, on paper, to mesh well or make for a productive series; yet, the genius of MacFarlane and the writers and directors on the project continue to create exciting collaborations of the two universes.  https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1329665/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1
