Final Destination 3 (2006)

The first two installments of the Final Destination saga have taken audiences on a veritable roller coaster of emotions. Audiences have been subjected to toruture and death by ways that are nearly beyond imagination. The natural progression of things would dictate that this installment of the franchise would up the ante and allow Death to play an even more sinister role in the demise of the film’s young protagonists; director James Wong made sure that this happened. Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Wendy Christensen) is this film’s clairvoyant and like the other installments, she understands what is taking place before others and attempts to save the lives of those closest to her. She follows the clues left by the pictures she took for her high school yearbook and she finds herself and her classmates in precarious situations throughout the film. Unlike its predecessors, this story is much more intense. Deaths often become clear long before they actually happen in previous films, however, in this film, Wong adds to the suspense by lengthening scenes and refuses to let audiences know anything in advance. In general, this film moved forward in nearly every way. The acting was far superior to the films that came before as Winstead, Ryan Merriman (Kevin Fischer) and Kris Lemche (Ian McKinley) led the way with wonderfully intense performances. Wong did more than just connect this story with the others, he managed to heighten the overall premise of the Final Destination films by connecting it to major, well-known events such as September 11th and Lincoln’s assassination. With the exception of some minor continuity errors that had next to no bearing on the overall story, the film was incredibly well done. Everything felt as if it had progressed forward rather than remaining stagnant or falling short like many horror sequels tend to do.  https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0414982/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0
