Hostel: Part III (2011)

Hostel: Part III continues the story of the Elite Hunting Club. This time a bachelor party finds themselves seduced by escorts and in the darkest corner of Las Vegas. The four friends, like those that came before them, are introduced to art like they had never seen before and must find ways to not only survive but to reserve the reality that they know and love.

For the first time, Eli Roth, the mastermind behind the Hostel franchise steps down as writer and director and allows someone else the opportunity to move the series forward. Director Scott Spiegel attempts to further what Roth had attempted in Hostel: Part II back in 2007. He brings horror and torture closer to home, as Sin City becomes the newest site of the Art Show and the dirty deeds of those who partake in the spectacle. In previous installments, Roth seemed to cover every possible crevice of horror and gore, leaving little to the imagination, and few places for Spiegel to take the franchise in the future. He, however, used proximity to viewers to create new levels of fear and paranoia.

Spiegel managed to make scenes of torture more intimate using extreme closeups and more meniachal means of destruction and death. All in all, the film (and the story) was made more relatable, as it was brought closer to home, and more modern than before. The new cast and crew did well in advancing the story that Roth meticulously created and ultimately capped off the franchise in an exciting and fulfilling way.
