Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)

This was definitely up there in terms of all the Spider-Man movies that have been produced in the past fifteen years. I personally loved Tobey Maguire’s version of Spider-Man, as he is one of my favorite actors. Tom Holland, however, is a very close second. Holland and Downey Jr. have fantastic chemistry and their conversations, regardless of the tone, are excellent. Each of the characters introduced in this film were great. Zendaya’s Michelle, Jacob Batalon’s Ned and Donald Glover’s Aaron Davis were all spectacular characters. I’m hoping with the addition of Aaron Davis and the character’s comment about having a nephew living in the city means that Miles Morales will soon make his way into MCU. The one aspect of the film that wasn’t as great as I had hoped was Michael Keaton’s Vulture. I thought his acting was great but the villain itself wasn’t very imposing. Compared to previous villains I feel that he just doesn’t cut it. Previous villains such as Loki, Obadiah Stain and Ronan were intimidating; you could see how threatening they were and due to their agendas, they were even more menacing. Due to the fact that Adrian Toomes (Vulture) is simply a thief he is less intimidating than the previously mentioned villains, at least to me. It wasn’t until the very end that the audience saw that Toomes was capable of actual damage. Even with the negativity of the villain, this was an amazing film. I’m looking forward to seeing Spider-Man in the upcoming Avengers films and the Spider-Man sequel. After watching every MCU film, I’m dreading having to wait even a month for Black Panther and four months for Avengers: Infinity War. As a whole, the Marvel films just get better and better and the idea that new films will be released every year for the next twenty years (according to James Gunn), and now including the X-Men and Fantastic Four, is incredibly exciting. http://m.imdb.com/title/tt2250912/
