Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story (2005)

Seth MacFarlane’s television show, Family Guy (1999), has become a household name in animated comedy over the course of the past twenty years. MacFarlane’s edgy comedy has, for years, drawn large crowds and sparked conversation in the fields of sports, politics and popular culture. For the first time, in 2005, Macfarlane, along with his cast of writers, producers and actors, transitioned from twenty-five minutes worth of comedy to a feature-length film. The same edgy comedy and endless pop culture references helped the film flow and not seem overly long. It seems that it is often overlooked how much talent Macfarlane possesses. He manages to voice nearly half of the film’s main characters, as well as many of the tertiary characters. While he did an amazing job of voicing each of the characters, it was his job writing the script that made the film (and the television series) successful. The success of this film is truly a testament to how popular the television show is (even back in 2005) and how strong of a cast and crew Fox has working on this project. What is wonderful about Family Guy and this film is that the comedy, while sometimes mindless, often makes the audience think. Whether the joke is political, or even sexual in nature, they often are layered and have some substance. Having that added dimension of intellect spread throughout the film made the film even more enjoyable. MacFarlane and the rest of the cast produced a film that essentially played out like a longer episode of the television show. It neither surpassed expectations nor underwhelmed in any way. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0385690/?ref_=nv_sr_2?ref_=nv_sr_2
