The Breakfast Club (1985)

This is easily one of the best films of all time. This film is so simple and yet it’s multidimensional. The dialogue is simple and yet it’s powerful. This film captures the points of view of just about each and every high school student in America at some point during their tenure in school. There’s an honesty about everything that is said throughout the course of this film and that is one of the things that makes this film so great. After reading about all the decisions regarding casting, I think Jackie Birch and John Hughes did a phenomenal job of choosing the right actors. Actors like Nicholas Cage, John Cusack and Rick Moranis were originally considered and casted as characters in this film; I can’t help but think that the choices that were finally made were perfect and anything else may have made this film subpar. This is one of the films that I could watch again and again and probably never get tired of it. The casting, the acting, the story, the relatability and just about everything else regarding this film is fantastic. If you haven’t seen this film before, climb out from underneath of your rock and get on that.
