The Croods (2013)

This is easily one of my all-time favorite animated films. It’s not often that one finds a film in which every single character is enjoyable, however, this is one of those films. Everyone from Ryan Reynolds’ Guy to Cloris Leachman’s Gram was hilarious and from the start of the film the characters continue to grow on you. Reynolds is not only a phenomenal actor but a phenomenal voice actor as well. I often hear animated characters, when played by well known actors with distinct voices, and cannot help but to picture those actors rather than the characters that they are portraying. This was not the case when it came to Reynolds in this film as he was able to manipulate his voice just enough to make me forget that it was him. The only character in this film that I truly struggled to see as anything other than the actor was Nicolas Cage’s Grug. His voice, no matter the movie he plays in, sounds exactly the same--this film was no exception. I thought the story was a lot of fun and was incredibly emotional towards the end. I don’t often find myself emotional while watching an animated film, however, Kirk DeMicco and Chris Sanders, along with the writers, did a sensational job of putting together a story that was fun and touching and catered to both children and adults. These are often hard things to incorporate into the same film, but the writers and directors did just that. I highly recommend this film to both children and adults.  https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0481499/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1
